In den Abendstunden erschien die 2. Beta von WordPress MU 2.7.1. Im Vergleich zur ersten Beta ist die größte Neuerung der neue Bereich “Meine Blogs”. Über diesen können nun die “Administrationbar-Einstellungen” für jeden Blog einzeln gesteuert werden.
Des Weiteren beinhaltet die Beta 2 eine neue Option, mit “Dashboard-Blog” kann man einstellen, zu welchem Blog neue Benutzer hingefügt werden, falls sie keinem anderem Blog angehören. Bisher war dies immer der Hauptblog (Blog mit der ID 1). Außerdem fanden noch weitere kleinere Veränderungen statt, wie zum Beispiel die Erweiterung der Konstante “NOBLOGREDIRECT” aus der Datei wp-config.php.
Der Entwickler Donncha O Caoimh kündigte auch an, dass das Update auf 2.7.1 für Benutzer von WordPress MU 2.7 automatisch über das Backend gestartet werden kann, so wie dies aus WordPress bekannt ist. Ein Termin für die finale 2.7.1 steht noch nicht fest.

Die erste Beta-Version von WordPress MU 2.7.1 wurde veröffentlicht. Diese Version wird vom Entwickler als “recht stabil” bezeichnet, jedoch fehlen noch einige Funktionen und Änderungen, sowie sollen noch mehr Tests, aufgrund der zahlreichen Neuerungen, statt finden.
Neben den geplanten Dingen, wie die neue Pluginverwaltung, sind noch einige anderen Änderungen hinzugekommen, wie z.B. das blogübergreifende Administratoren nun auf die Pluginverwaltung Zugriff haben, obwohl dieser für die Benutzer deaktiviert ist. Des Weiteren sollen die Einstellungen für die Administratorsleiste (Admin-Bar) ins Profil.
Vom Live-Einsatz wird abgeraten. Bugs können wie immer im WordPress MU Trac gemeldet werden. Ein Release-Datum für die finale WordPress MU 2.7.1 steht noch nicht fest.

Letzten Samstag, der 14.02.2009, fand in Jena das “WordCamp 2009 meets Barcamp Mitteldeutschland” statt. Als Stargast war WordPress-Gründer Matt Mullenweg da. In seiner Keynote sprach er über WordPress 2.8 und BuddyPress. Bei Gesprächen mit ihm sagte er deutlich, dass WordPress MU, dank BuddyPress, noch einen großen Aufschwung dieses Jahr erleben wird. Dafür muss jedoch noch der Auftritt von WPMU, vorallem die veralte Webseite, überarbeitet werden. Offen ließ er, ob WordPress MU auch ein neues Logo erhält.
Um das System einsteigerfreundlicher zu gestalten, gehört auch die neue Verwaltung für MU-Plugins (Side-Wide Plugins), weshalb Matt persönlich den Release von WordPress MU 2.7.1 verschob. Weitere Details über den Relaunch von mu.wordpress.org sind noch nicht bekannt.

Wie der BuddyPress-Entwickler Andy Peatling verlauten lies, soll WordPress MU eine neue Verwaltung für die sogenannten “Side-Wide” Plugins, zu dt. globale Plugins oder MU-Plugins, erhalten. Diese soll die selben Funktionen, wie das normale Plugin-Planel also Installieren, Aktivieren/Deaktivieren und Aktualisieren, erhalten. Durch diese Neuerung wird der Verwaltungsaufwand miniert und die Installation/Pflege von BuddyPress vereinfacht, wie Andy im englischen BuddyPress-Blog schrieb.
In welcher Version dieses neue Planel kommen soll ist noch unbekannt, deshalb verzögert sich auch der Release von BuddyPress. WordPress MU Entwickler Donncha O Caoimh bestätigte uns gegenüber diese Neuerung. Vermutlich wird das Plugin-Verzeichnis von WordPress.org mitgenutzt.

Wie versprochen haben wir heute die Sprachdatei für die gestern erschienende Version 2.7 von WordPress MU veröffentlicht. Sie kann im Download-Bereich heruntergeladen werden, in der ZIP-Datei liegt eine Installationsanleitung bei.
Zudem gibt die erste DE-Editon von WordPress MU, in der die “readme.txt”, der Installationsassitent, sowie alle Fehlermeldungen übersetzt sind. Diese benötigt jedoch noch einige Tage und wird bald an dieser Stelle veröffentlicht.
Solltet ihr Fehler finden (egal ob Logikfehler oder Rechtschreibfehler), bitte wir euch diese uns zu melden, damit wir die Sprachdatei ständig verbessern können. Ihr könnt z.B. diese Kommentarbereich oder das Kontaktformular nutzen. Vielen Dank!

Der Entwickler von WordPress MU, Donncha O Caoimh, hat die erste Beta der lang erhofften Version 2.7 veröffentlicht. Er selber bezeichnet diesen Release als stabil, warnt trotzdem vor der Verwendungen im produktiven Einsatz, da es immer wieder unentdeckte Bugs gibt.
Neben den Neuerungen aus WordPress 2.7, wie das neue Backend, enthält auch WordPress MU das Core-Update. Weitere Änderungen gibt es zusammengefasst in einem Artikel der WordPress MU Tutorials.
Die Sprachdatei für WordPress MU 2.7 kann schon über Subversion vorab getestet werden. Natürlich werden wir dieses zeitgleich zum Release von WPMU 2.7 veröffentlichen. Ein Termin steht noch nicht fest.

So eben wurde WordPress MU 2.6.5 als Reaktion auf eine kritische Sicherheitslücke veröffentlicht. Desweiteren wurden einigen Bugs behoben und das deutsche Sprachfile erweitert. Ein sofortiges Backup + Upgrade wird empfohlen.
